Deer Creek Mountain Camp Wedding Weekend

Camp Marks, ESTD 2024

The Making of Camp Marks

Elizabeth & Alex got engaged right after college and moved to Denver to start new careers. They fell in love with Colorado and knew they wanted to host their wedding out here, so Elizabeth started researching! She posted in a Facebook group, and we reconnected. Elizabeth and I went to high school together! What are the chances that I ended up as a wedding photographer in Colorado, and they were beginning to plan their Colorado wedding. We went and met up at a brewery to discuss all things Colorado + wedding.

By the end of that brewery hang, we had discussed half a dozen venues and made a list they should tour, with Deer Creek Mountain Camp at the top. When they toured she immediately texted me and said they were picking it because “it was AMAZING”. She also shared the cutest photo of her feeding a deer an aspen twig, and I knew their hearts were sold! Camp Marks was officially a go!

A Three Day Camp Wedding Experience in the Colorado Mountains

Summer camp vibes, Colorado views, and a whole lot of love. Elizabeth & Alex planned the most perfect weekend for their guests, and themselves!

Day one everyone arrived and settled in. They found their on property accommodations, enjoyed some yard games, and then came together for the welcome dinner. A pizza party at the A-Frame! Elizabeth & Alex off-roaded up to the summit for sunset before rejoining their guests for smores around the fire.

Day Two: Wedding Day!!

Everyone came together for brekkie and an early morning hike to the summit to enjoy the Colorado mountain views before starting wedding day prep!

Elizabeth & Alex opted not to see each other before walking down the aisle, and got ready separately with their bridal parties. I hopped back and forth between the two, capturing all the moments and details! Once they were ready, we captured some formal portraits of Elizabeth & her bridesmaids and Alex & his groomsmen.

Ceremony Amongst The Aspen Trees

Deer Creek Mountain Camp’s ceremony location is in a grove of beautiful aspen trees. It has rows of benches for guests, and a platform with an arch for the wedding couple to stand under.

Elizabeth & Alex made sure everyone had a beverage to toast with after the ceremony. They paused down the aisle to have a drink with everyone, their first as Mr. & Mrs. Marks!

Post-Ceremony Adventures

One of my absolute favorite things about Deer Creek Mountain Camp is the abundance of adventures right on the property! You really don’t have to build in time to go elsewhere for portraits, or to experience Colorado. It’s all right there! Alex & Elizabeth chose to off-road up to the summit, enjoy hors d’oeurves in the adirondack chairs, venture through an aspen grove, and go for a canoe. All of that without leaving guests for more than cocktail hour. The best venue!!!

Dinner & Reception

The Marks hosted dinner in the Main Lodge, and the first part of the reception at the A-Frame. Another amazing thing about Deer Creek Mountain Camp is they allow the party to move to the gym so you can keep going past 11pm!

When the party moved from the A-Frame to the gym for the evening, they did a bubble exit!

Day Three: The Goodbye Brunch

After a late evening of celebrating, everyone joined for a brunch to end the weekend. Elizabeth & Alex had the cutest matching sweatshirts for their send off. They went straight to their honeymoon, in Iceland!

Deer Creek Mountain Camp is conveniently located an hour away from Denver International Airport. Making it super easy for out of town guests to join! They also did airport shuttles to make it easier, as most of their guests were from the East Coast.

Elizabeth & Alex’s Review

“I booked Sam for our three-day wedding weekend in the Colorado mountains July 2024. We also booked her for our engagement adventure pictures in Rocky Mountain National Park, where we went snow shoeing in the cold winter snow, as well as a bonus engagement session hiking in the Utah slot canyons. We booked Sam because she not only takes incredible pictures, but she is also amazing company to hike, off road, camp, and just spend time with. Everyone truly enjoys her presence, which is what we wanted for a personal, special wedding feel. Sam is always up for a new adventure, and her pictures always capture those exceptional moments. Sam communicates promptly and honestly, we could always count on her for planning, photography, and as a friend. Her turn around time for pictures is shocking, the night of our wedding we already had sneak peaks! We had a full gallery with thousands of beautiful pictures in just eight weeks. All of our family and friends were amazed with Sam’s work. We can’t imagine anyone else taking our pictures – we definitely found our lifetime photographer!

Sam was reliable and consistently amazing during our wedding weekend. She did exactly as we discussed, and more. Her presence was happy, vibrant, and sociable, while also comfortable and familiar while in the background of our big moments. She was there and captured all the moments we could ever want. When more picture moments came up, she was ready. Sam was also eager to come up with new photography ideas and seemed truly happy and excited to be there. Everyone at our wedding raved about our amazing photographer!”
