Sunrise Denver Hiking Elopement

Allie and Luke’s Denver hiking elopement was the ultimate proof that you can plan an incredible elopement day on a very short timeline.
The couple’s entire day was filled with meaningful, sentimental moments that made it so clear how perfect Allie and Luke are for each other – and so obvious that months of planning isn’t what makes or breaks an epic elopement!
Planning a Meaningful Day
Allie and Luke inquired with me only two weeks before their elopement day. If this were a traditional wedding with lots of guests, that probably would’ve been a stressful nightmare! But for a hiking elopement with just the two of them, we still had plenty of time to coordinate all the details for a fun, romantic, stress-free day.
After Allie and Luke booked me, I quickly put together a location guide of potential spots. One of the best things I bring to the table as your elopement photographer and planner is that I’m super familiar with many of the coolest places in Colorado, so I can make personalized recommendations even on a tight timeline!
After reviewing all the options, the couple picked a spot near Denver that was sentimental to Luke. Our quick planning paid off with an incredible elopement day – not in spite of the short timeline, but partially because of it! Throughout the planning process, Allie and Luke had to make a lot of “gut instinct” decisions that ultimately made their elopement even more meaningful.

Summit at Sunrise
I met up with Allie and Luke just before sunrise, and we got to watch the stunning alpine glow of the sun lighting up the mountain.
Allie and Luke also took the time to copy their vows into vow books to prepare for their ceremony. I think this is a great way to review them one last time and center yourself in the moment on your elopement day.
Once the sun was up, we drove all the way to the summit of the mountain. It was so much fun to hang out, explore, and enjoy the view at just over 14,000 feet of elevation. I loved getting to watch Allie and Luke spend quality time together, just being themselves without any hurry.
At the summit, we explored! We took in the 365 degree views and climbed around like mountain goats.
We even found a pair of binoculars to gaze at Denver in the distance.

Sentimental Hike
Next, we drove down to the trailhead for the hike to Allie and Luke’s ceremony location. We hiked to a spot that Luke had been before, and he tearfully explained how special it felt to be back there on his wedding day.
The last time he was there, he’d envisioned someday finding his person and bringing them back there to see it. It was an incredibly sweet full-circle moment at such a beautiful location that I could completely understand why Luke would feel so sentimental about.

Ceremony & Picnic
Allie and Luke had a super personal, private ceremony, and then shared a picnic.
Watching the way they couple talked to each other and interacted the whole time, it was so obvious to me that they were meant for each other.

Perfect Ending
After their picnic, Allie and Luke signed their marriage license on their Bronco, and we took some fun photos of them on top of the car.
Then we headed back into town for some post-elopement ice cream – the best way to wrap up a hiking elopement, in my opinion!
